Media Meet

Started in 2010, Media Meet is an initiative by the Department of Media Studies of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, India. Over the years, the event has brought together many pioneers of the media disciplines together with industry leaders, providing a space for networking. After a decade of growth and grandeur, Media Meet has grown potentially to adapt to the changes in the media industry and technological growth. In order to address all avenues of the media industry Media Meet set themes for every year since its inception. Starting with Moving Frames in 2010 that shone a light on Cinema, the consequent years focused on themes such as Advertising, New media, Broadcast and Print Media, Big Data, Media Ethics, and 2022's theme Media Technologies.

Engaging seminars, interactive workshops, and discussions are just a few of the events Media Meet has to offer. Apart from this, Media Meet also organises paper presentations that provide a platform for various research scholars to present their research papers to various guests and academicians.

A number of keynote speakers are invited to give their two cents on the topic at hand. We’ve had a myriad of guests in the past that have provided us with various insights, and also answered questions put up by the audience. The roster of keynote speakers includes Mr Harish Bijoor, Mr Sunil Gopinath , Mr Arnab Goswami, Justice Markandey Katju, Ms Shovana Narayanan, Mr A.S. Panneerselvan, Mr SS Rajamouli, Mr Gautam Menon, Mr Rajdeep Sardesai, Ms Dhanya Rajendran, and many more notable industry professionals.


Department of Media Studies

With a long history spanning three decades, the Department of Media Studies at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has established itself as a reliable leader in media education. Inaugurated in 1991, the department offers a swarm of opportunities to the students to deepen their disciplinary and academic knowledge and pursue excellence. While media has become a necessity in everyone's lives, the department strives to equip its students with passion and attitude for effective leadership on varied local, national, and global media platforms.

The Department of Media Studies has attempted to create meaningful bridges in our challenging times and contexts. With faculty whose focus is to hone the skills of their students and raise social consciousness, the department has been energising classroom learning, imparting the art of storytelling, and enabling the learners to tell the right stories with impact. Everyone has a story, and the Department of Media Studies empowers the student community with tools and strategies to tell it to the world.

CHRIST (Deemed to be University)

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was established as ‘Christ College’ in 1969. It undertook path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and modern curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of Holistic Education, and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated staff. The multi-disciplinary University which focuses on teaching research and service offers Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programmes in humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, engineering, architecture, education, and law to about 25000 students. The University offers its programmes at three campus locations in Bangalore in Karnataka, and Pune Lavasa in Maharashtra, and Delhi NCR. The campus is a living example of harmonious multiculturalism with students from all the states and union territories and around 60 different countries. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) publishes six peer-reviewed research journals and has published more than 300 books in Kannada and English. A promoter of sports, music, and literary activities, it is a nurturing ground for creative excellence.
